Santa Came Early!

knitgifts

Well, aren't those some happy knit gift recipients! We did our gift exchange a little early this year, thanks to holiday plans that means my sister and I will be apart :(. That's my sister with her new bag - pre-felted. It's Noro Kureyon that I got off E-Bay. I really love the colors... and self-striping yarn just never ceases to amaze me. I gave it to her without "finishing" it so that I could get her input... and good thing I did. Turns out I'm supposed to add a couple more inches to the top and some black fur for a fun fringe at the top. Hopefully I can finish with that before the end of next week, so my parents (who are visiting for Christmas) can take it back home to her.

Next to my sister is my brother-in-law modeling his new hat - earflaps and all. He really did ask for a pointy hat - I swear! We all agreed it looks quite elfin. It was from a free Lion Brand pattern that I got in the aisle at Hobby Lobby. Reid, if you're reading this, I slaved over it for hours and days. Everyone else, it was really quite easy... I'm going to be using this pattern (and yarn) to make hats for charities and quick gifts from now on. I think by modifying it a little, I can make it a tad less pointy, too (for those who don't appreciate the elfin look!).

OOH! I just found out that the new issue of "Knit It" goes on sale January 6th. I'm pretty excited - I liked the first two! And speaking of magazines, the new Knitty is pretty fabulous... I'm not sure what I'm going to make yet, but probably something... when I find time!
