C is also for...

cankles.

cankles
Holy crap

Not sprained - this is just at the end of the day. Somehow when you read the pregnancy books and they say that you may retain water and get swollen feet and ankles, it doesn't really conjure up quite this image. I'm down to two pair of shoes that fit my feet, both Crocs. Not exactly "dress casual" but my office seems to be fairly accepting of my wardrobe. After all, I'm still showing up every day! (Um, except today which I took off in order to try and get over a cold that is making it impossible to breathe).

Last Friday was my 36 week appointment, and the first "check." The baby was (is) head down, and I was 0.5 cm dilated, which was "exceedingly normal." Also, I've gained exactly 30 lbs, which is "perfect." Basically, I think I'm right in the middle of the bell curve here. Next appointment is this Friday and it will include a sonogram (yippee!) to guesstimate at baby's size.

Bigger update to come soon with baby shower updates, baby craftyness, and maybe even something non-baby related (if there is anything else these days).

I'm so jealous! Really! (Not about the cankles, the head down part. ;-) )

I am SO READY for this to be over. C'mon kiddies!

Those are swollen ankles alright!!
But as long as you keep your sense of humor you'll make it!!
And I'm working on baby craftness too!
When's the shower? I need to get you a box in the mail!!

Ouch! Poor ankles. Poor feet. I didn't suffer from this too much during my pregnancy, but the first couple of weeks after giving birth were very swollen. It sounds counter-intuitive, but drinking a lot of water actually helps reduce bloating and swelling. Hope that's helpful! So sorry I had to miss last weekend's knitterly shower - the Critter's doing much better now. And his grandparents are in town this weekend - whee!

I had cankles too. They do go away very quickly after giving birth - I promise you. That's one thing I am not looking forward to again. Especailly in the middle of summer!

Ugh, I feel you. My office is SO WARM that I get here in the morning and immediately begin to swell. Isn't late pregnancy glamorous?!

We're so almost there! :)

Yikes.

Wow, those are some cankles! They will go away very quickly after the baby arrives.

Hooray! A mid-week post!!... with the promise of more to come! Woo-hoo! I can't wait to hear about the sonogram, and it's good that she is turned and slowly making her descent (it's a little like a space shuttle!). Have you checked out my blog lately? You might want to (there is crazy stuff happening out here)!

Those are some beautiful cankles! They do go away, but I think the quickness of their departure is a relative thing.....that and I have no patience!!!

Uh, you weren't KIDDING about the cankles!!! Tell Dan he needs to buy you a spa gift certificate for after you have this baby! Momma deserves some SERIOUS pampering after the 9 months she's been through!!!

Wow! At least it is not summer time. Hang in there, you are in the home stretch, and 0.5 cm means you only have 9.5 cm to go!

You know, sometimes that means you get to buy new shoes!! Surely that's a good reason to have a baby!

OH MY GOD! I had those too. JUST exactly like them. Mine didn't happen until after my pregnancy, and then they were balloons!

Get some TED hose, they are like $30 but worth it. They will help massage it upwards...
