Now, to prove that this is still a knitting blog, we're going to play a little game of "Guess that Work in Progress!" Here are your clues:
- I started thinking about it in January 2004, and then purchased the perfect yarn in a fortuitous auction on E-Bay.
- I had almost finished the back in an update in March 2004. I did finish the back shortly thereafter, and started the sleeves. And then it stalled...
- After pulling it out for the Lent-Along in March, I finished the sleeves in April 2006, and even started on the front. And then stalled again (something about a Picovoli).
- I listed finishing it in my 2006 Knitting Goals.
- It's been in my sidebar under "Works In Progress" forever.
Yes, it's the Bed and Breakfast Pullover from the Winter 2003 Interweave Knits! Congratulations, you savvy detectives!!!!

Here's the slightly-unsteady-but-flashless-so-you-can-see-the-cables-and-true-color photo. I'm past the sleeve bindoff and closing in on the neckline. Then I'll need to seam and do the collar. I can't even express how glad I am that the sleeves are already done!
Hopefully this will be my Rhinebeck/Stitches East sweater. I knew I didn't have a chance of knitting an entire sweater, but this way I can just finish one that's already mostly done. I get a sweater out of it, plus I can cross a looming WIP off my list. Sweet!
And, if you really wanted to see the Pomatomus sock, here's a close-up:

I realize that the Sock on Safari pics didn't do you much good in trying to visualize the knitting, so here you go. I'm getting close to the toe already. Then it's on to Sock #2. I'm really enjoying knitting these - both the pattern and the yarn are combining to make it really fun.
And thanks to Paula for letting me hang out with her all day last weekend at Crafty Bastards! My family has a long history of craft fair vending, and it gave me a blast back to my childhood. I had a great time!
Next time: A crafty confessional, or why I'm not making as much knitting progress as I might.

Your Africa pictures are beautiful! And I will see you at Rhinebeck! What hotel are you guys staying at?
Posted by: Amy on October 9, 2006 02:29 PMThat sweater front is some high class knitting. When the sweater's done, it will certainly be worth the wait. Plus, I'm sure you'll feel relieved to have it off the sidebar.
Great to see you at the Bastards. Did you get anything?
Posted by: Jenna on October 9, 2006 03:40 PMBeautiful sweater and socks! I just started a new cable project but I'm not so happy with the results...
