Art Fibers

It's an entry in the middle of the day! During a weekday! Less than a week after the previous entry! Things are seriously nuts here in CraftySnargleLand. There can only be one explanation... A Day Off! That's right, I'm using some precious vacation hours to sit at home on my couch wathing tapes of The West Wing and the Sex and the City Season 2 DVD's. And knitting, of course!

The main reason I'm taking today off is because I built up some time by working and traveling over the weekend. I ran a meeting earlier this week in San Francisco. Long hours and jet lag, but I managed to break away at the last minute (literally, I had to hurry back to get to the airport on time) long enough to visit the fabled Art Fibers. Isn't this a beautiful sight?

I've actually been to Art Fibers once before, just before leaving the West Coast to move to DC. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I still haven't finished any projects with the yarn I bought on that trip, but I still have it in my stash. And I'll make something with it someday.

That didn't stop me from buying more yarn for the stash, of course - are you crazy? Here's the loot:

The red is recycled sari yarn (probably a scarf) and the blue is Andes, a Peruvian cotton (hopefully to become a Clapotis in the spring) and six skeins of Chai in color 21 (not on the website, unfortunately), and a custom designed pattern for a sweater from it. Kyoto is also fabulous... I might regret not getting some of that. Biscotti was cool too. What can I say, limited luggage space, limited budget.

Kira was great, too. I wished her congratulations on her marriage, thereby outing myself as a knitblogger and knitty reader. She is cool, and her store is awesome. Add me to the list of converts (Rachel, Mariko, is there room for me?)!

Yay! That stuff looks so GOOD! And I'm glad to meet Kira -- she's the best.

You got the ANGORA!!! I'm so jealous. That scarf felt so nice that I almost didn't pass it down the row to you at Politics and Prose ;). It was fun to see you, too. Good luck at the craft fair!
